Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a circa 1700 brick farmhouse with a pantiled roof. It represents the surviving side wing of a much larger house. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had five bays of windows. Most of these windows are now blocked, but two original two-light mullion and transom windows remain, along with a replica at first floor level. Two later sash windows with glazing bars are located on the ground floor. The ground floor features rough skewback arches. The facade includes a moulded brick platband and a modern gabled porch. Two semi-external brick stacks are situated at the rear, each with three partly rebuilt octagonal shafts. Narrow windows with glazing bars are present. A plain platband runs along the building’s length. The gable end of the main wing features five sash windows with wide glazing bars, also beneath rough skewback arches. Inside, a fine staircase is positioned opposite the entrance, and is characterised by substantial turned balusters.
