Description

Brookfields is a former farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th century with an 18th-century addition. The original section is timber-framed and rendered, with a brick side addition. The roofs are covered in pantiles. The original house was built as a single storey with an attic. The brick addition is two stories high. Windows include some 18th-century examples with leaded lights and metal casements, alongside 20th-century metal windows also with leaded lights. A notable feature is a six-light window in the brick wing, positioned under a three-centred arch constructed with rubbed brick voussoirs. A modern panelled front door is set beneath a skew-back arch with a cambered soffit. The original house has a steeply pitched roof with an added external gable-end stack, and the brick wing also has an added external gable-end stack. Later extensions have been added to the side and rear.
