Description
Tollgate Cottage is a former shop that dates back to the 16th century and has undergone later alterations. The building features a rendered timber frame, which has been partly refaced, and is topped with a thatched roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The front of the cottage includes two 19th-century canted bay shop windows and an inserted gable-end stack. There are also two 20th-century flat-topped dormers. At the rear, there is a later extension. Inside, a 17th-century inserted floor can be found, while the roof is mostly modern, retaining one original queen post truss.
