Description
The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage and rectory dating from around 1800. It is constructed of gault brick, with colour-washed brick at the rear, and features a black pantiled roof. The building has a roughly square plan and includes a projecting service wing at the rear. It stands two storeys tall and has a five-bay facade with sash windows that have glazing bars, all set beneath skewback arches. The entrance features a raised and fielded panelled door with a semi-circular fanlight, framed by an arched doorcase topped with a dentilated open-bed pediment supported by Tuscan columns. The west facade has three bays, with ground floor sashes that rise from ground level, and includes an added two-storey canted bay. The roof has projecting eaves and a hipped design with a central well. Inside, there is a hall staircase with shaped tread ends, square-sectioned balusters, and a swept mahogany handrail. The fireplaces are adorned with moulded plaster classical scenes on the mantels.
