The Gardeners Cottage In The Walled Garden At Hamels Park

The Gardeners Cottage in the walled garden at Hamels Park is a house built around 1795 by Sir John Soane, with drawings dated 25 August 1795 found in the Soane Museum. The cottage is constructed of plastered brick and features a hipped slate roof. It has a rectangular, double pile plan and stands two storeys tall, facing north from the north side of the walled garden. In the 20th century, single-storey symmetrical plastered extensions were added to the east and west sides. A 20th-century Tuscan porch with a triangular pediment is located at the center of the north elevation, which also has three windows. The north and south elevations each feature three 2-light casement windows, which have been renewed.
