Description
Coleshill is a rectory that has been converted into a private house. The south range dates from the 17th century, while the north range is from the 18th century, and there is an early 19th-century service wing on the east. The south range features a timber frame with a roughcast eastern gable, and its south and west walls are made of red brick with yellow brick bands. The north front is also red brick, and the upper floor of the west porch is tile-hung. An outhouse at the northeast corner is constructed of flint with buff brick dressings. The house has old red tile roofs, while the outhouse has a slated roof.
This 17th-century parsonage house is two stories tall with attics, built on a three-cell central chimney plan. It has a cruciform stack located a third of the way from the west end and an internal gable stack at the east end. The parallel two-story north range has seven windows and formerly featured a central entrance. At the west end, there is a two-story early 20th-century porch that is open on the ground floor, supported by two stone Doric columns. Above the porch, there is a Dutch gable over the tile-hung first floor. The south front has recessed sash windows, alternating between 6/6 panes and triple sashes. There are three gables with attic windows and a canted bay with French doors.
The formal north front includes a parapet that partially conceals the hipped roof and end chimneys. The center of this front is advanced and consists of three bays, with a central giant round-headed arched recess that contains a round-headed window on the first floor. The sash windows on this front have segmental arches and 6/6 panes. A drawing by Oldfield in the Hampshire Record Office shows a central door and doorcase topped by a triangular pediment.
