Description

The site comprises 17th-century walls, an 18th-century gateway, and an 18th or 19th-century sundial, all within the walled garden at Hamels Park, situated to the northwest of the mansion. The red brick walls stand approximately 3 metres high and enclose a rectangular garden of around 4.75 hectares. A gateway is set into the middle of the south wall, featuring a segmental arch with a projecting gauged brick 'keystone' and wrought iron double gates. Centrally within the garden stands a Portland stone sundial, consisting of a baluster-shaped column mounted on a square plinth, and surmounted by a circular bronze dial.
