Description
The Stables and outhouses to The Hall are a group of buildings dating from 1784, designed by Sir John Soane. They are constructed from gault brick and feature pantiled roofs, arranged in four ranges around a square courtyard. The open cart shed is located to the north, with stables on the east and west sides, and an outhouse to the south. Each range, except for the north, has two storeys and five bays. The ground floor includes pivot windows that resemble sash windows, with glazing bars and much bottle glass set beneath skewback arches. The south range has windows within containing arches. The first floor features alternating blind and shuttered openings, with wavy ventilation slits in the shutters. The external faces of the east and west ranges display blind arcading and honeycomb vents, along with dentil cornices and hipped roofs. The stables retain their original stalls and fittings.
