Description

Highfield House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a large west bay added in 1820. The building is constructed of whitewashed brick and features a slate roof. The original 18th-century section is two storeys high and has three bays. It includes a panelled central door set in a fluted case with two pilasters, topped by a hood. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, placed under segmental gauged skewback arches, although some were renewed in 1962. There is a timber modillion eaves cornice beneath the gabled roof. An internal stack is located at the east gable end, while the original stack at the west gable end has been moved inside due to the 1820 addition. This addition is also two storeys high, consists of one bay that is slightly rebated, and features one 20th-century sash window on each floor, topped with a hipped roof.
