Description

Blackford Hall Chapel is a chapel dating from around 1300 that was converted into a house in the 16th century and rebuilt in 1703. It is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof. The south side has two storeys and features three uneven bays set on a plinth of flint and brick. There is a door located to the left of centre, which is behind a 20th-century porch that incorporates a re-used round Norman roll moulded arch. The windows are 20th-century casements, and there is a gabled 20th-century conservatory to the left of the porch. The north side has two blocked lancet windows towards the east. A 16th-century timber door opposite the south porch indicates a through passage plan from the 16th century. The roof is gabled with a ridge stack positioned to the east. The east gable retains the chapel's east window from around 1300, which is a three-light arched intersecting window. A tie iron dated 1703 is located on the north side.
