Description

Chain Home transmitter tower, erected in 1939 to a design by Norman Garnish from galvanised steel.

PLAN: rectangular in plan.

DESCRIPTION: A Group II self-supporting transmitter tower, originally built by Radio Communication Ltd, based on an Air Ministry design by Mr Norman Garnish. The tower is of bolted galvanised-steel construction, attached to four concrete foundation pads. It stands approximately 110m high.

The single storey huts at the foot of the tower, cabling, modern equipment and perimeter fence are excluded from the listing.
