Description
Wisteria House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with an addition from around 1840. It is built from local gault brick and partly rendered with plaster. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with plain tiles, featuring flush end stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic, with two dormers.
The central feature is a two-storey canted bay, which is flanked by two windows on each storey; however, these windows are currently boarded up. The eastern side of the house includes a part from around 1840, also made of gault brick, with a hipped slate roof and a bracketed wooden eaves cornice. This section has a projecting entry and hall bay, which features a moulded wood architrave above a twelve-pane hung sash window, along with a doorway that has a swan's neck pedimented doorcase. The doorcase is adorned with a plain frieze and entablature on panelled pilasters, and includes a panelled door with a fanlight that has glazing bars.
There are two similar recessed window openings on each floor, which lack wooden surrounds. To the southwest, there is a crinkle-crankle wall from the early 19th century, constructed of red and gault brick in stretcher bond. This wall has approximately seven undulations and features a doorway with a four-centred arch.
