Description
Mepal House is a house built around 1840, constructed of gault brick with stone dressings. It features a hipped slate roof that is leaded, along with a moulded stone eaves cornice. The house has paired gault brick ridge stacks topped with entablatures and is designed in a T plan. It has two storeys and a three-bay symmetrical front elevation, with a slightly projecting centre bay that is pedimented. On the first floor, there are three original twelve-pane hung sash windows set in raised stone surrounds with cornices. The central entrance is a recessed porch flanked by double pilasters. A moulded stone band runs between the two storeys. There is a contemporary kitchen wing that is also two storeys high, featuring twelve-pane hung sash windows. The doorway has an original reeded doorcase and a panelled door. The house is included for its group value.
