Description
Nos. 35A, 35B, and 35C on The Close is a former house that has been converted into flats. It dates from the late 17th century, with 19th-century extensions added to the right and rear. The building features painted brickwork, with plain tiles and pantiles on the extensions. It stands at a right angle to the street line and has three storeys with three bays. The central door is framed by a reeded surround and corner roundels. There are stringcourses at each floor level, and the sash windows are set in earlier, smaller openings that originally had rubbed brick segmental arches at the ground and first floors. The second floor contains three-light casement windows, while the central window openings have been blocked. A simple cornice adorns the top, and the roof slopes down to cover the two-storey rear extension. A fire insurance plaque is visible on the blocked first-floor window opening.
