Description

No. 46 The Close is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a pantile roof. The building has three storeys and two bays. The central entrance features a panelled door flanked by reeded pilasters, topped with a decorated architrave and a flat hood. Sash windows with glazing bars and segmental arches are present throughout the structure, along with a fascia-board cornice. Evidence from the internal and rear walls suggests that this building was originally a pair of 18th-century one-up one-down tenements, which included rear back stairs.
