Description

No. 50 The Close is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. The exterior is rendered and topped with a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys plus an attic and features three bays. The central bay, which projects, is supported by four Tuscan columns. There is a central door with a simply moulded surround. The ground and first floors have sash windows with glazing bars, while the second floor has three-light casement windows. The roof includes dormer gables with bargeboards. Inside, there is a fine Jacobean staircase that features arabesque carving on the newel-posts.
