Description
60, 60A and 60B, The Close is a former house that has been converted into flats. It dates from the late 16th century and features 19th-century refacing. The building is constructed of flint, with the west facade covered in stucco, and has a pantile roof. It is situated on an L-shaped corner site.
The west facade has two storeys and two bays, with a central doorway that includes a porch featuring a steeply pitched tiled roof and decorated barge-boards. There are one four-light and one three-light 'Tudor' mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, along with three-light 'Tudor' frieze windows on the first floor. The facade is topped with a crenellated parapet and a north gable.
On the north facade, there is a fragment of a gateway at the corner, and an off-centre door with a 16th-century moulded surround. The facade also includes scattered 20th-century mullion and transom windows.
