Description
No. 57 The Close is a house built in 1862, designed by architect J. Brown. It is constructed from flint with stone dressings and features a brick stringcourse and window dressings. The slate roof covers a two-storey structure with three bays, showcasing Gothic details throughout. The central entrance door is flanked by a semi-circular turret on the left with a conical roof, while the right-hand bay projects and has a gable. The ground floor includes a bay window with a mullion and transom window, and above it, there is a three-light casement window. The gable features a cusped circular attic light, and there are three windows in the turret, along with a three-light casement window on the first floor. The roof is decorated with ornate tiles along the ridge.
