Description
The building at the rear of numbers 3 and 5 on St. John Maddermarket is a Grade II listed structure, originally built in the 16th and 17th centuries, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It features a combination of flint and brick construction and has pantile roofs. The building has a T-shaped plan, although most of it is hidden by adjacent structures. It stands two storeys tall, with the gable end of the north range visible from Exchange Street. This part has been re-faced in the 20th century and includes a door on the left side along with casement windows. Access to the south range is provided through a 20th-century extension from Lobster Lane. The original use of the building is unknown, but it is currently utilized as an office and surgery.
