Description

The buildings at 8 and 10 Pottergate are a pair of commercial properties, originally built in the 18th century and altered in the 19th century, with later 20th-century renovations. Their original use is now unknown. The front of the buildings is red brick, with a smaller area of flint rubble on the right side of the first floor. The rear of number 8 is weatherboarded, and the roofs are covered in pantiles.

The buildings are three stories high, featuring four first-floor windows. A central carriage entry exists. Number 8 has a 20th-century shopfront with pilasters, and a side door. Number 10 has a 19th-century shopfront with a recessed central door, a fascia, and an architrave resting on consoles. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars and simple moulded surrounds on the right, a central Venetian window with a stringcourse above, and a 20th-century three-light casement window with glazing bars on the left. The second floor has casement and sash windows with glazing bars. The building has box and fascia cornices with paired brackets, particularly noticeable above number 10. An 1829 parish boundary plate is located on the extreme right.
