Description
The main gates, viewing terrace, and attached steps and pergola at Wensum Park were built between 1921 and 1925 by A Sandys Winsch. This structure is designed in a classical style and features a pair of ashlar gatepiers topped with obelisks, which support wrought-iron gates. Connected to the gatepiers is a balustraded viewing terrace that leads down two flights of steps to a lower level. At this level, there is an open pavilion and a pergola supported by Tuscan columns, with balustrading in between. The wooden pergola frames add to the design, and central semicircular steps provide access down to the park. Wensum Park is also listed in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade II.
