Description
The central pavilion at Waterloo Park is a park pavilion built between 1929 and 1933 by architect A Sandys Winsch. It is constructed of concrete and features flat roofs in a classical style. The pavilion consists of a two-storey central block flanked by single-storey long wings, which have colonnades at the front and ends. The central block has a five-window range of round-arched windows, with a long balcony in front over shuttered windows and a central doorway. Above the flat roof, there is a small central feature that includes a clock face. The wings also feature similar windows and have colonnades supported by square piers, with balustrades leading to the flat roofs. This pavilion is the largest of the significant group of structures within the formal layout of Waterloo Park, which is listed in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade II.
