Description
Nos. 27 and 29 on Sussex Street are former houses that have been converted into flats. They date from the early 19th century and have 20th-century additions at the rear. The buildings are constructed of red brick and feature a pantile roof. They stand three storeys tall and have five windows on the first floor.
No. 27 is distinguished by decorated torus outer pilasters and an architrave, with fluted inner pilasters that have corner lion-masks, and a flat hood above the entrance. No. 29 features attached Tuscan columns and an architrave. Both properties have 20th-century sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches. A simple paired bracket eaves cornice runs along the top, and both buildings have a hipped roof.
