Description
The Catherine Wheel Public House is a late 19th-century building located on St. Augustine's Street. It features painted brickwork and a black pantile roof, situated on a corner site. The structure has two storeys and two bays. The corner entrance is marked by attached Ionic columns adorned with wheatear drops, leading to a door with etched glazing. Above, Ionic pilasters with wheatear drops support a frieze, with its cornice resting on paired brackets. The bar windows are distinguished by a 3-centred arched transom with small mullions above. On the first floor, sash windows are set beneath flat rubbed brick arches. Additionally, there is a two-storey, one-bay shop with a 20th-century shopfront occupying one bay to the southeast. The listing primarily highlights the facade of the public house.
