Description

No. 55 on St Augustine's Street is a house that dates from the 16th and 18th centuries. It features galleted flintwork with stone dressings and brick, topped with a pantile roof. Originally two storeys, it was raised to three storeys in the 18th century, during which sash windows and a central door with a pediment were added. The building has blocked 16th-century horizontal windows with stone surrounds and ceiling beams that have simple chamfer stops. It is positioned at right angles to and set back from the street line.
