Description
No. 30 on St Augustine's Parade is a house that has been converted into a shop and office. It dates from the 18th century and was refronted in the late 19th century. The building is made of brick with limestone dressings and features a tiled mansard roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with an attic, displaying a four-window range. The 19th-century shop front includes attached moulded columns, large fluted consoles, and a fascia with three elliptical arches. There is a doorway on the right with a decorative grille above the overlight. Above this, pilaster strips lead to a cornice and a tall parapet. The first-floor windows have shouldered architraves with cornices, while the second-floor windows have plain surrounds with sill blocks, featuring plate-glass sashes. The building also has three semicircular-arched dormers. The interior was largely remodelled around 1980, and Nos. 26-30 now function as one internal space.
