Description

This is an early 18th-century house, now used as offices. It is situated on St Augustine’s Parade in Bristol. The building is rendered with limestone dressings, and the roof is not visible. It follows a double-depth plan. The house is three storeys high, with a four-window front. It has banded pilaster strips and a 19th-century shop front, featuring large fascia consoles and a cornice over three segmental arches, two framing windows and one containing a narrow doorway. The arches have keys, and there is a rusticated pilaster to a cornice and a full-width pediment. The windows have architraves, with tall, deeply keyed surrounds on the first floor rising to steep broken pediments. The second floor has raised dentil cornices, and the third floor has a sill band and raised cornices. The windows are largely plate-glass sashes, although casements are found on the upper floors. Inside, a staircase is located at the rear of the left-hand side, and features square moulded balusters, square newels with finials, wainscot, and a glazed roof.
