Description
Nursery Cottages is a terrace of cottages that was formerly a workhouse, dating from the 18th century. The cottages are constructed of red brick and covered with red pantiles. They are two storeys high and consist of six bays, with single storey, two bay additions on the east and west sides. The centre features a pediment.
On the ground floor, the two outer bays have two 3-light arched headed casements, while the centre bays contain two 2-light casements. The first floor has two 3-light casements with single horizontal glazing bars in the outer bays, and two narrower 3-light casements in the centre. The pediment is adorned with a brick platband base, kneelers, and a parapet. The building has crow-stepped gables and end stacks. At the rear, there is a two-storey central gabled brick wing with a crow-stepped gable, along with single storey blocks on the east and west sides that feature single 2-light casements.
