Dairy Farm Barn And Range To South West

The Dairy Farm Barn, dated 1710, is a Grade II listed building located in Melton Constable Park. It is constructed of red brick and covered with red pantiles. The east front features two storeys, with a brick platband on the first floor and a moulded brick modillion eaves cornice. The ground floor has mid-19th century cast-iron fixed casement windows with cambered arches, and a central entrance leading to a boarded loft door above. The north end has two bays with brick wedge buttresses and blocked first floor openings, along with kneelers and coped parapets. The north gable displays a datestone inscribed "IA (Jacob Astley) 1710."

Inside, the barn is divided into ground and first floors. The roof consists of tie beams supported by a wall plate, with wall posts featuring straight braces, butt-purlins, and wind bracing at collar level. Attached to the south is a mid-19th century brick engine house, which has a brick arched entrance with double doors on the north gable. The west side includes a mid-19th century lean-to made of brick and flint with brick dressings, and to the southwest, there is a single-storey range featuring a two-storey corner tower topped with a conical roof.
