Description

The barn located 40 meters north-west of Dairy Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1740. It is constructed of brick and features pantiled roofs. The barn is a single storey structure with an east side that has six bays, which are separated by seven stepped buttresses that include vitrified headers. There are two full-height double timber doors symmetrically placed, and the bays without doorways contain high rectangular honeycomb ventilation panels. The roof is gabled, and the west side has two opposing gabled transepts; one transept has double timber doors, while the other has a pedestrian door. The gable heads of the transepts show significant tumbling. The roof structure consists of ties on straight braces that drop down to wall posts, with two original arched braces still remaining. The roof also includes principals and two tiers of staggered butt purlins, as well as cambered collars.
