Description
Den Cottages are two cottages, formerly three, dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of red brick, set on a rubble plinth in some areas, and feature a plain tile roof. The building has two gable and one ridge red brick stacks, with brick coped gables that include kneelers. The eaves are raised and decorated with dentil and dogtooth detailing.
The cottages are two storeys high, plus an attic, and consist of five bays. On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a single tripartite casement window, a doorway with a six-fielded panel door, another single casement window, a doorway with a similar door and overlight, and a final single casement window. The first floor has three similar casement windows. Above the right doorway, there is a small two-light casement window, with all openings set under segmental arches.
In the attic, there is a single brick and plain tile gabled dormer with a single casement window. To the left, set back, is a single storey plus garret red brick and pantile wing with two bays, featuring a single red brick stack at the rear and dentil eaves. The wing has a doorway with a plank door and a single tripartite glazing bar Yorkshire sash window to the left, both under segmental arches.
