Description
The Methodist Church, built in the early 19th century, features a combination of red brick and flint with brick dressed returns, topped by a red pantiled roof. The building is two stories high with a three-bay facade and two blank return bays. It has a ground floor brick plinth, brick end pilaster strips, and a simple brick eaves cornice. There are two ground floor and two first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all set under flat rubbed brick arches. The central entrance consists of a two-leaf door with three panels on each side, also under a flat rubbed arch, and there is a cast iron lamp bracket above the door. The church has a deep wooden eaves cornice and a hipped roof. The north gable features two sash windows with glazing bars. Surrounding the church is an interlaced cast iron fence on a brick plinth with segmental copings, along with a 20th-century gate and brick wall returns. The interior includes mid-19th century furnishings and earlier details in the west gallery and pews. This building is included for its group value with the chapel.
