Description
Orchard House is a house dating from around 1600, featuring whitewashed render and a red pantiled roof, with a partly timber framed first floor. The building has two storeys and includes single storey lean-to additions on both the east and west sides. There are two ground floor and two first floor 20th century casement windows with glazing bars, along with a single casement window in each lean-to and a 20th century door on the west side. The house has a coped parapet and a stack from around 1600 on the east side.
Inside, there is a single ground floor chamber from around 1600 that includes a roll moulded spine beam with stops and joists, as well as a roll moulded bressumer in the east wall with stops and a similar bressumer lintel above the fireplace. The first floor features partly timber framed north and south walls, while the west gable is entirely timber framed. Exposed tie beams are visible below the ceilings, and the roof above consists of four bays with butt purlins, wind bracing, and large collars.
