Description
The Old School House, dated 1855, is a former school now used as a dwelling. It is constructed from carstone with brick dressings and has a plain tile roof. The building features four bays and is two storeys high in the first and second bays. The first bay has a gable at the front and a large axial stack that has been rebuilt. The windows have pointed arches with chamfered red brick surrounds and cast iron Tudor grille glazing bars. The ground floor windows are three lights with transoms, while the first floor windows are two lights with transoms. The second bay projects forward and includes a four-centred porch arch made of double chamfered brick, with a Gothick door behind it and a two-light window above, similar to the first bay. Above this is a stone plaque featuring the ffolkes arms and the date 1855, along with a tall bellcote that houses a bell. The third and fourth bays are single storey and have three-light windows with cast iron Tudor grille glazing bars under flat arches, supported by two buttresses. Attached to the right side is a gabled porch with a slate roof, featuring a four-centred brick arch.
