Description
A pair of estate cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Lynn Road in Hillington. The cottages are built of carstone with red brick dressings, and have a plain tile roof. They are four bays wide with a 1 1/2 storeys height. A central axial stack rises above the cottages, featuring six linked shafts. Bay 2 has a gable facing the road, while the outer bays each have a doorway with a ledged and battened door. The windows are casements with cast iron lattice glazing bars. The ground-floor windows in bays 2 and 3 have three lights each, while the first-floor windows in those bays have two lights each. A gabled half dormer window is located above bay 3. The returns of the cottages feature double casements with cast iron lattice glazing bars on both the ground and first floors. The cottages are notable as an unaltered example of mid-19th century estate cottages and contribute to the group value of the surrounding area.
