Description

The Hillington War Memorial is a stone cross located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, which is also listed at Grade II*. It is prominently positioned near the churchyard gates and faces the road outside the church tower. The memorial is raised above the level of the churchyard wall and features a plain Latin cross on a tapering plinth with a single-stepped base. The plinth includes inscriptions in incised lettering.

The inscription reads: "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY/ (8 NAMES)/ THEY GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR FRIENDS/ 1939 - 1945/ (2 NAMES)/ HOLMAN OF LYNN." The names listed include ranks and the years of death.
