Description

A pair of estate cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Lynn Road in Hillington. The cottages are constructed of carstone with red brick dressings, topped with plain tiles and a cockscomb ridge to number 10. They have four bays and two storeys, with a central axial stack featuring six linked shafts. The outer bays have single-storeyed porches with four-centred brick arches, containing boarded doors with original fittings, including strap hinges with fleur de lys finials. The windows are casements with cast iron lattice glazing bars, with three-light casements to bays two and three of the ground floor, and two-light casements to each bay of the first floor. Ground floor returns feature two-light casements with cast iron lattice glazing bars. The cottages are listed as a good example of 19th-century estate cottages with unaltered facades.
