Description

A pair of estate cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on Main Street, Kirby Muxloe. The cottages are constructed of pale red brick with cogged brick eaves, ornamental slate roofs, and brick chimneys. They exhibit a symmetrical design, with a main two-bay block and smaller, single-storey bays set back on either side, likely added later. The windows are cast-iron casements with diagonal latticing, set within chamfered brick surrounds with slightly cambered heads. The ground floor windows of the main block have three lights, while the attic windows, located in gabled eaves-line dormers, have two lights. The single-storey bays also feature two-light casements. A 20th-century door is present to the right of the main block within its original chamfered surround, and a 20th-century gabled brick porch with a matching two-light casement is on the left. The central chimney has altered diagonal shafts, and single diagonal chimney shafts are visible on the gables of the smaller end bays.
