Description

Oaks Farmhouse is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. The building features a late 18th-century rear wing, which has been altered in the 20th century, and a large front wing added around 1830-1840 that extends at right angles. The front wing is constructed of rendered brick and has coved plaster eaves, a hipped roof made of Swithland slate, and flanking brick chimneys. It stands two storeys high and has five bays. Notable architectural details include a chamfered plinth, a first-floor sill band, three-pane sash windows, and central double panelled doors topped with a semicircular fanlight. The rendered porch has a moulded cornice and a plain frieze supported by Doric columns. There is a single-storey bay to the right, likely added later, featuring a parapet and a blocked door. The rear wing is made of roughcast brick that has been whitewashed, also topped with a Swithland slate roof and brick chimneys. This wing is two storeys tall with three bays, featuring a first-floor band course and moulded eaves. The windows have been replaced with 20th-century transomed wooden casements, including three-light windows flanking a two-light window. The ground floor right window has been altered to a 20th-century hipped bay with metal casements and French doors, and there is a central 20th-century door.
