Description

The Ffolkes Arms Hotel is a public house dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of carstone with brick dressings and has had its plain tiles replaced. The building features three bays and is two storeys high, with single storey ranges on both the left and right sides. A central projecting single storey porch is present, which is an addition to the original structure. The porch has an embattled parapet and a chamfered four-centred brick arch, with the arms, crest, and motto of the Ffolkes family displayed in stone above.

The windows are casement style, with three lights and transoms on the ground floor, and three leaded lights on the first floor, all set under flat arches. The gable of the central bay is also an addition, featuring two leaded lights. The left and right returns of the building are made of galletted Sandringham sandstone. There are two inserted windows in the attic.

To the left and right, there are set-back three-bay single storey additions. The right addition has a return of galletted Sandringham sandstone, with the first two bays featuring three-light casements, and the third bay having a projecting porch with a parapet and brick arch that matches the central porch. The left addition includes an inserted window on the left, a blocked central doorway, and a two-light casement on the right. The rear of the building has many additions that lack architectural interest.
