Description
The Blue Anchor Hotel is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone, with the front featuring coursed and watershot stonework, while the rear walls are made of rubble. The building has a slate roof and stands two storeys high with three bays. Each bay includes a sashed window with glazing bars set in a plain stone surround on both floors. A sill band runs along the first floor.
Between the second and third bays, there is a plain stone door surround leading to a porch that has a plain frieze, cornice, and blocking course supported by two Tuscan columns. Square stone brackets support the stone gutter. The hotel has a chimney located on the north gable and between the first and second bays.
At the front of the south wall, there is a canted bay with a central doorway that is now blocked, featuring a projecting cornice hood carried on square brackets. The windows in this bay are sashed with glazing bars, except for those on the left-hand side, which are blind. To the west of the bay, there is a sashed window with glazing bars and a plain stone surround on each floor, with the sill band and stone gutter of the facade continuing along the south wall.
