Description

The property comprises a house (number 62), now a shop, with a cottage (number 60) adjoining to its right, both built at the same time. Construction dates to 1745. The walls are pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings, and the roof is slate. The building is two storeys high. The house section has three bays, while the cottage has two. Number 62 features a modern shop front. The cottage has a modern bow window, and a doorway to the right with a plain ashlar surround. Inscribed on the lintel above the doorway is the text 'James Bibby built these houses in 1745'. The first floor of number 62 has three sash windows with glazing bars. Number 60 has two plain stone window surrounds. Projecting stone gutter brackets and gable copings are present. A chimney is located on the left-hand gable and between the house and cottage. Later extensions are visible at the rear. A stone lintel over a blocked doorway (now a window) in the rear wall of the house is inscribed 'Bibby James and Catharine 1745'.
