Description

Hawkshead Farmhouse is a house dated 1665, as indicated on the lintel. It is constructed from sandstone and limestone rubble with sandstone dressings and has a slate roof. The building features a two-unit central-entry plan with gable stacks and stands at 2½ storeys tall.

The facade includes rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, with a continuous drip course on the ground and first floors that rises over each window. At the left end of the facade, there is a two-light fire window. To the left of the door, there is a four-light window, and to the right of the door, there is another four-light window. The first floor mirrors this arrangement, with a two-light window positioned above the door. The attic features a three-light window on each side of a central plain chamfered surround. The chamfer of the door jambs continues around the lintel.

On the left-hand return wall, there are one-light chamfered window openings on the first and attic floors. The right-hand wall has a two-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor, along with two one-light plain chamfered windows on the first floor and one in the attic. There is a later outshut at the rear of the building.
