Description

The stable block, located 10 metres north-west of Snettisham Old Hall, dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from squared, coursed carstone and features a black smut pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high with five bays, showcasing a symmetrical Palladian facade that is architecturally more sophisticated than the 18th century alterations made to Snettisham Old Hall.

The south front, which faces the service court, includes four ground floor segmental windows with tripartite wooden frames and square leaded glazing bars, all set in raised voussoir surrounds. On the first floor, there are five segmental arched windows, four of which have slated louvres with three lights, while the centre features a boarded dovecote, also with raised voussoirs. The central door is accompanied by a segmental window and a temporary door. The building has a raised first floor plat band and raised chamfered quoins. An elaborately bracketed modillion eaves cornice adorns the top, with brick verged end gables.

The returns and the northern side appear to have been largely rebuilt in the 19th century. Attached to the east is a single-storey wing made of coursed, squared, and galletted carstone, which has a pantiled roof and two brick-dressed doors.
