Description
Sands House and The Pharmacy, located in Burnham Market on Market Place, date from around 1800. The building consists of a cottage on the east and a shop on the west. It is constructed of red brick with a red pantiled roof and features two storeys. The cottage has two bays and includes a single ground floor plate glass rectangular bow window from around 1900, as well as two first floor sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance is marked by an early 19th century door architrave with fluted pilasters and a frieze, leading to a part-glazed door.
The Pharmacy, which is three bays wide, has a central 19th century rectangular shop front bow window. Its entrance features an architrave with corner paterae and a two-leaf part-glazed door. There is another part-glazed door and a sash window with glazing bars to the west side. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, and the building is topped with a white painted brick dentil eaves cornice. There is a party wall ridge stack and a clunch gable from an earlier build on the west side.
