Description
Westbourne Lodge is a fine mid 18th century house designed by architect William Sands, junior. It is a two-storey building made of red brick, featuring a three-window centre flanked by lower side wings. The left wing has a round-headed door on the ground floor, while the right wing has no window. There is a band between the storeys on the left side. The upper windows have rusticated architraves, and there is a modillion pediment over the centre window, with stone cill tabs. The parapet adds to the building's elegance.
On the ground floor, there are two rounded bays with fluted mullions and modillion cornices, along with glazing bars. A projecting porch in Roman Doric style leads to a modern door and fanlight. The side entrance features a good wood doorcase with a pediment. The entire building is topped with a moulded modillion cornice.
Westbourne Lodge, along with its outbuildings to the south and north, forms a cohesive group.
