Description

Westbourne House is a mid-18th century red brick house, likely designed by William Sands, junior. It is two storeys high and features a symmetrical facade with two bays of three windows each, plus a single window between the bays. The windows are mostly hung sashes with glazing bars, except for the central window. The window reveals are plain, with stone lintels and fluted keystones above. A projecting porch, constructed in the Roman Ionic style, enhances the front elevation. Further detail is provided by a moulded frieze and a balustraded parapet, topped with a string cornice. A single-storey wing extends to the left, incorporating two longer windows with similar stone lintels and keystones. The house forms a group with Nos. 2, 5, and 7, and the hall between Nos. 2 and 3, contributing to the area’s architectural character.
