Description
Nos. 59, 60, and 61 Market Place is a house and shop dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a red pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with an additional cart entrance bay to the east.
The ground floor showcases a fine late 18th-century tripartite segmental bowed shop front, which includes a central door flanked by windows. The base is made of brick, and the windows are supported by two moulded pilasters with bracket capitals and roundels. Above the windows is a frieze with three console brackets. The central door is a 20th-century replacement, consisting of two leaves and part glazed, with an original segmental headed fanlight that has radial glazing bars and swag terminations on each light.
To the east, there is an arched cart entrance with two leaf boarded doors, while to the west, there is a late 19th-century shop window bow. The first floor features four sash windows with glazing bars, along with a 20th-century casement window inserted at the west.
