Description
The Old Barclays Bank Building, located at No. 50 Market Place in Burnham Market, was originally a house before being converted into a bank and is now restored for residential use. It dates from the 18th century and features colourwashed brick with a 20th-century red pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The ground floor has two plate glass sash windows, while the first floor has three sash windows beneath skew backed brick arch heads. The central door is framed by a doorcase with fluted pilasters and a frieze above, and it includes a fanlight with radial glazing bars, brackets, and a moulded architrave, leading to a six-panel door from the 20th century. There is a platband on the first floor and a stack at the south end. The building is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
