Description

The White House and No. 63 Market Place are an early 19th century house, originally comprising three bays. The building is constructed of plaster-rendered brick with a red pantiled roof. It is two storeys high, with one ground floor and three first floor sash windows featuring glazing bars. A shop front was added around 1900 to the west side, incorporating two canted plate glass bow windows and a central panelled door. The central doorway dates from the early 19th century, featuring panelled pilasters, a frieze, reveal, a six-panel fielded door, an early 19th century wreath door knocker, and a fanlight with vertical glazing bars divided by upright and inverted swags. A stack is situated on the west end. Attached to the west is a segmental brick carriage arch, supporting a brick floor above with a single plate glass sash window. A second, later section is located at the rear of the building.
